The fall is located on the eastern side of the 977m-high Mahapitiya Mountain, from where several streams spring. At 10m in height, it forms part of the Ilukk Arava River, which is a tributary of the Kuda River. The water cascades down a protruding rockface into a deep crevasse at the bottom.
Take the road from Wellaya in the direction of Ella - the fall is near Kahamaditha. It is then a 2-3 hour trek through thick jungle so it is sensible hire a local guide.
