Solos Maha Stana
According to the great chronicle of Sir Lanka, the Mahawansa there are 16 places which was visited by Buddha during his 3 visits to Sri Lanka. These places are called Solosmahastana and the Bhuddhists worship these places with the following gatha (sutra) and holds them at highest esteem.
"Mahiyanganam Nagadeepam - Kalyanam Padalanchanam
Divaguha Deeghavapi - Cetiyam Cha Mutinganam
Tissa Maha Viharancha - Bodhim Maricha Vattiyam
Suwarnamali Maha Cetiyam - Thuparama Bhayagirim
Jetavanam Sela Cetiyam - Tatha Kachara Gamakam
Ethe Solosmasthani - Aham Vandami Sabbada"
According to this is sutra, the places which have been blessed by the Buddha's presence are as follows .

- Nagadeepa Viharaya - Nainativu Island, Jaffna District
- Kelani Viharaya - Kelaniya, Colombo District
- Sri Pada - Ratnapura district
- Diva Guhava - Unidentified
- Deeghavapi Chethiya - Deegavapiya, Ampara District
- Muthiyangana Viharaya, Badulla, Badulla District
- Tissa Maha Viharaya - Seruvila, Trincomalee District
- Sri Maha Bodhiya, Anuradhapura, Anuradhapura District
- Mirisawetiya, Anuradhapura, Anuradhapura District
- Ruwanweli Seya, Anuradhapura, Anuradhapura District
- Thuparama , Anuradhapura, Anuradhapura District
- Abhayagiriya, Anuradhapura, Anuradhapura District

The cave in which Lord Buddha spent the day after placing, His footprint on Sri Pada. From here He proceeded to Digha Vapi. This holy site has not been conclusively identified some believe it could be the Batathota cave in Kuruvita.
